NAME

hidups - Experimental driver for HID UPS equipment

NOTE

This man page only documents the hardware-specific features of the hidups driver. For information about the core driver, see nutupsdrv(8).

This is an experimental driver. Not all features may work correctly.

SUPPORTED HARDWARE

hidups is an experiment to bring USB UPS monitoring to NUT on Linux. It should detect any UPS that uses the HID power device class, but the amount of data it currently reads is limited. This is due to the interface to the kernel. Better interfaces are planned.

EXTRA ARGUMENTS

This driver does not support any extra settings in the ups.conf(5).

BUGS

The status field has been known to blank out after self-tests on APC hardware.

Most of the status registers on better-documented equipment are not yet available due to interface limitations.

This driver is tied to the Linux hiddev interface, and probably isn't very portable as a result.
